To say that I've been looking forward to this show ever since I saw its trailer, is a huge understatement.

I read my first Sabrina book during grade school and I've been a huge follower of her 90's TV series ever since. The way Melissa Joan Hart brought the character to screen was just marvelous. Despite the cheesy lines of the 90's sitcom, it is still undoubtedly lovable and entertaining. So naturally, I had high hopes for this new show--and I wasn't disappointed.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is loosely based on the comic books of the same name. It is produced by the same people who did "Riverdale", which made me slightly nervous, due to the poorly written script of that show (as much as I love and look forward to it).

Kiernan Shipka, who plays 2018 Sabrina, also played in other Gothic-themed movies. One of which was "Flowers in the Attic", written by my favorite author, V.C Andrews. She also starred in the horror film, "The Blackcoat's Daughter" with another favorite, Emma Roberts. I easily recognized her, and that in itself, made me instantly adore her.

They also got the character of Sabrina on point. She's sassy, bright, outspoken and good-natured. I also love the actor who plays Harvey because of the uncanny resemblance. The same, old boring Harvey, who's so enamored with Sabrina...hahaha

The casting is great. Aunt Zelda is played by a well-known actress, and she got the character well. I'm still yet to see more of Aunt Hilda, who was a very strong and prominent character in the older show, where she was louder, funny, and more vibrant.

I also absolutely love the addition of Sabrina's cousin, Ambrose. I easily developed an endearment for him in the 1st episode itself. It seems like there is more to him than meets the eye. And I'm excited to find out.

They all live in Greendale, just a town away from Riverdale. Since I love spooks and creepy atmospheres, I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the 1st episode. The Spellman's household, which is a mortuary, and the Halloween decorations, in time for Sabrina 16th birthday, or "Dark Baptism".

The show, unlike its predecessor, is obviously darker. The cinematography and soundtrack are impeccable. There were "jump scare" moments, but not so overly done to give one a heart attack. Although, the dark elements of the show can be genuinely scary--sometimes even bordering to evil. If you're new to witchcraft, you're probably in for a lot of surprises.

I guess there's so much more to see since I've just finished the 1st episode. But I wanted to make this review during the height of my excitement.
